That is ridiculous. Do you know a lawyer? Maybe reach out to the autism society in your area for assistance
Autism isn't fun for our family and living in Georgia makes it worse so I'm still complaining and hoping to move out-of-state. The first link came out on 3/15/15 and looks at states based on whether they have an insurance mandate, ABA offered in ACA/Obamacare or ABA for Medicaid. That's a start but you've got to read the small print as there are a lot of exceptions to the insurance coverage.

Hi Kavitha
Have you tried filing an appeal with BCBS to cover ABA? Sometimes filing an appeal will help to get coverage for ABA. You may want to try contacting the Indiana Autism Alliance. They may… read more

Anyone who has Medicaid especially in Texas, how is the coverage for autism? I was told that preauthorization is required for speech and OT. How difficult is it to get the preauthorization? Thanks
Speech and OT are generally provided through the school district. These services, if the child qualifies, are addressed in the IEP. As a parent, you can request the school evaluate your child for… read more
It's hard for me to slow down. When my body says to rest but my mind says go-go-go. Battles that rage in my head daily.
As evident I'm a work-o-holic. From the time I get up until I go to bed, I'm working. A Full-time Job and at least two passion projects that I try to give attention to every day.
@A MyAutismTeam Member this resonates with me a LOT! I'm glad I don't ruminate like I used to.
Even though we live in Virginia (which is an ASD coverage state), and the insurance policy was written here, our ABA therapy is not being covered. We have exhausted our savings on ABA, but were advised getting an attorney would be the next step to fighting for coverage. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive lawyer with knowledge of this issue?
The plan is self-funded, does that mean we are out of luck?
We have recently started to have an issue with our 3 year old wandering. Our house is locked down like an army camp (indoor and outdoor cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He seems to be drawn to water and other very dangerous situations. We moved about one month ago to our new home and last week he escaped around 7pm (after placing his shoes by the door which I believe was strategic), and made it about a block away. He will be 4 in April.
We had to secure windows in the upstairs of our home out of… read more
