Daycare Refusing To Care
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son has been diagnosed with autism for years. He has always gone to the same daycare and haven't been told about any issues with his behavior. Except last week we received a letter stating if your child does the following we have a 3 occurrence policy. 1-we will talk to you, 2-we will talk to you and ask u to take your child home to work on/fix their behavior and be excused from the center for a period of time, 3-we will ask you to leave the center. Well this week he had his issues (like he… read more

My Grandson Caleb Is Soon To Be 3 And Pre-diagnosed W/ Autism. Is There A Daycare That Deals W/Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

He has been released from several daycares that all claimed they could help only to be released shortly after he starts. He is on CCMS and just started behavior therapy and soon to start therapy for speech and his objection to food or drinking other things besides pediasure. My daughter Clerysse and I are new to this Autism diagnosis.

Summer =no School What To Do
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

With summer right around the corner we are trying to figure out what we can and should do with/for Evelyn. We've talked about a daycare bUT that won't be anything like her pre k class and I am thinking about the mendabialty proms or maybe brain balance (not sure if they would take Evelyn on. Had any one done either of these or have any other recommendations that may have worked for you?

I Need A Childcare Provider For My Special Needs Daughter
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

does anyone have any suggestions for daycare? My daughter not only is autistic but she has a developmental delay, she is blind, in pampers, and non verbal, I am having such a hard time finding daycare for her due to her disabilities, She doesn't require anything other than a diaper change, to be fed, and supervised just as you would any other child but due to her issues every single child care says they are not "qualified" to take care of her

Daycare And ABA?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband and I are considering beginning ABA therapy for our two year-old son.He is in daycare during the week, so the therapist would primarily be working with him in the daycare setting. I emailed the daycare director informing her that we are looking into this approach, her response was that the toddler room is very busy, but he could have his sessions in an extra classroom they have in the basement. Obviously I don't think she understands what ABA is, the length of treatment, and the… read more

Autism is protected by the ADA but when we're are talking daycares they are not exactly held to the same standards as a school is. The teacher could argue that having the therapist in the same room… read more

I Need Help Finding A Daycare In The Rosenberg/Richmnond, TX Area.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 6 year old son has Asperger's and ADHD and the daycare he was in can no longer handle his outbursts. They said they were "structured" and followed a schedule but everytime I popped in it was chaotic and they were not doing what was on their schedule, so of course my son had a hard time there. Can anyone please give me names of people or a facility that wouyld work for my son?

Pre-K Program Is Free Except For Our Kid
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My wife was told by the daycare that our 4 year-old ASD daughter would only be able to attend the private pre-Kindergarten because she wouldn't be there for 6.5 hours a day for the free public pre-K. Our daughter will go to pre-K special ed class and another school for the disabled so she won't be fully available for the public daycare hours. What this means is we have to pay an extra $9000/yr for what other parents are getting for free. We could switch to another daycare but she has been… read more

Does The Isd Have To Maintain Confidentially Between School And Daycare?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I got a call from the principle last week and she said that a students dad called her and said that Thomas threatened to bring a gun to school. The dad said that he didn't threaten anyone but just wanted to inform them. The principal wasn't going to open an investigation because there was no threat made to anyone. Case closed I thought. Today, the extended day care teacher told me that Thomas's teacher came down (after school) and told her that Thomas threatened to bring a gun to school and… read more

I Am Looking For Resources To Help My 3 Year Old Son. He Is On A Waiver Waitlist, But How Do I Get Help For Him In The Meantime?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 3 year old son was recently diagnosed with ASD. He was enrolled in a developmental preschool. I cannot find a therapist who is familiar with ABA therapy nor do I know what other types of therapy may help him. I am also looking for a daycare provider for after preschool that is equiped to handle his special needs. Every avenue that I have called has either placed him on a waitlist or routed me in circles to someone else. I feel lost and do not know how to help my son. Any suggestions you… read more
