Does Your School District Highlight Their SPED Program On It's Website?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey y'all! I'm writing something & I noticed that on our school district's website I had to hunt to find the Special Education Program. It was completely left off of the elementary page. Does your district feature its SPED program? If so, what does it highlight? What kinds of great things are they doing for your kids? Thanks so much!!!

Need Advice Please :-) What Is The Best School District In Southern California For HF Autistic Girls?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a 10 year old HF autistic dtr and we currently live in Columbus, Ohio. We are considering moving to Southern California this summer, but her education is going to be the determining factor on if we move and where we go.

We have had to fight with the schools here to get her an IEP. We have found that most teachers and specialist in the schools do not have a good understanding of HF autistic girls. Is this a common problem with the schools in California also? We finally did get an IEP… read more

Help With Understanding Eligibility For Public School Services
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am seriously confused about the process from transitioning out of early childhood into early education. My daughter will be 3 in January so we do not have a lot of time. I'm afraid of losing all of the therapies she's getting because of our insurance being so limited. The school system is evaluating her but they keep pushing the term developmental delay. I understand she has delays but I also believe the delays are because of her having autism. She was diagnosed in February 2013 with autism… read more

Fontana/Inland Empire
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am moving to foantana / inland empire from Los angeles area this summer. My son is HFA and will more than likely start 3rd grade in an Autism program. Does anyone have any opinion or input in regards to fontana and autism/special ed? Or inland regional center? I am really scared about the move and services out that way. We aren't receiving much support at the moment. I am tired of fighting LAUSD .

Rancho Santa Fe Schools For High Functioning Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We are currently looking at moving from Boston to Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar or other surrounding coastal San Diego communities. I have a 6-year-old son with high functioning autism who will be entering 2nd grade when we move in 2018. Does anyone have experience with how inclusive (or not) these schools tend to be? Because of his mild autism my son will be in a co-teaching environment for his next year (1st grade) and I think that is an excellent model that will hopefully spread to more public… read more

Moving To Colorado Springs...
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

So we will be PCSing in August to Colorado Springs. I know that it is a choice school state so does anyone know of great schools for children on the spectrum. Right now my son is in a 12:1-3:1 kindergarten class. They do recommend him to go to 1st grade next year with the possibilty of mainstreaming. Any help would be soooo grateful.

Ranch Creek is in D-20. Contact the principal and get a feel for how accepting the school and staff is. It's a newer school. Only been open a few years, in a more upscale neighborhood.
