At first, everything about L.'s baby boy seemed normal. He met every developmental milestone and delighted in every discovery. But at around 12 months, B. seemed to regress, and by age 2, he had fully retreated into his own world. He no longer made eye contact, no longer seemed to hear, no longer seemed to understand the random words he sometimes… read more
Just a thought but many autistic kids lose their autism diagnoses as they get older and learn more strategies to help with behaviors and to act neurotypical.
Do any of you with elementary aged kids have IEP accommodations for recess? Jesse is six and is starting to get in trouble at recess. It is just too much for him - sensory overload. He is active and needs an outlet and recess is important, but not sure of any steps to take. Thanks.

There are some grants out there. This is one that I know of http://www.uhccf.org/ but I have heard that there are others.
I'm nervous it may be too intense and cause regression.
I'm nervous as my oldest is coming up on the waitlist for IBI (intensive ABA, 30hours/week, school-like setting and routines). He was enrolled in a similar setting in a contained class, and it was a… read more
