Is a 4 year old who has problems with clear speech and difficulty with simple learning such as numbers and colors and remembering them always autism. He is very loving, talks a lot but not clearly and is very sensitive. Acts out sometimes and has always done the flapping thing.
Other conditions have the same symptoms. One of my most helpful websites was do2learn which is about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome ... and autism.
Does anyone in the Orlando area know where I can go for resources to help parents of adults with Autism. My son is in his thirties and high functioning but still needs help in navigating the world and I cannot get him to have real conversations with a therapist about his on-going challenges. How do you help someone when they refuse to seek help?
My son 18 years old and need help with filing garadianship
My son is 21 and attends our local community college. He's there to get his GED because his high school "decided" to give him a local diploma because they felt he "couldn't do it". Turns out..with alot of support...HE CAN do it.. I am pushing hard to get this GED for him, but Math always sets him back. He can't pass it because the kids have behavioral problems, not special needs. Big difference!! They are all HS dropouts!! Why can't there be a way for my son to get a high school diploma without… read more

She has fairly long and thick hair! It’s beautiful most of the time. She has a sensitive scalp. My thought was to get her in the bathtub, put a bunch on conditioner on her and leave it in her hair until after I get through it all!? I don’t know…
Thank you all so much! When she broke her arm last year, my mother and I took her to a specialty salon for kids (and had staff trained on how to work with kids with autism) called Snip-It’s. Worst… read more
I’ve been trying to get ihss but have been denied for my 3 year old toddler. Don’t know why I’ve been denied.?

I got mine through a grant. The granting agency, only services people within 100 miles of Saratoga, NY. BUt if you type in "ipad grants for autism" there are a bunch out there.
I have had my two children (6&4) sleeping with me for the last 6 months or so exclusively. Before that, my daughter with sleep issues would get up between 10pm and 3am every night and crawl in bed, or wake up no later than 4am daily, or both. For me it's less disruptive to my sleep to just have my kids in here, although privacy (didn't have much to begin with) goes out the window for the most part. So, I gave up. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks right now. Others in my household don't agree… read more
I agree that what works for your family is what is best for your family. Personally I never let my kids sleep in my bed. I have two neuro typical kids (now adults) and one teen with ASD and sleep… read more
It's hard for me to slow down. When my body says to rest but my mind says go-go-go. Battles that rage in my head daily.
As evident I'm a work-o-holic. From the time I get up until I go to bed, I'm working. A Full-time Job and at least two passion projects that I try to give attention to every day.
@A MyAutismTeam Member this resonates with me a LOT! I'm glad I don't ruminate like I used to.
