Which IPad And IPhone Speech App Should I Choose For Nonverbal Son?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son Levi is 9, almost 10. He has Lowe Syndrome and has many autistic tendencies. Right now we are really needing to find a speech app that would best suite Levi, who is non verbal. He has low muscle tone that makes sign language difficult but he is good with technological devices. He had a nova chat for 4 and a half years which his school personnel and family found very hard to program and use so he didn't get very far with it, although in the last year he could use it for basic speech which… read more

I played it at breakfast while he was eating. Captive audience :). And he didn’t always like it, but I push him to watch it. He gets really into it, but if he really protests, I will shut it down.

What Resources Should I Be Looking Into Inbetween Services?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Right now my daughter has just started speech therapy and is seeing a behavioral analyst (for sleeping). I feel like I should be doing more. Are there any programs anyone can recommend to help my almost 3 year old? Someone suggested Geminii...? I’ve been getting a lot of advise from people who don’t have autistic children, so I’d really value some advise from parents that have been there or are currently there.

The miller method sounds similar to the Hanen program my husband has started. I’m going to check out it out. Thank you both for your input :)

IPad with free SOUNDING BOARD app?

What Experiences Have You Had With Apraxia Of Speech? What Does It Look Like And What Is Evaluation Process Like?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 4 and minimally verbal. Any language he has is not very functional and often sounds much like baby babbling. We started using Gemiini video program with him and his vocabulary is slowly increasing. The videos use discrete modeling and repetition of words to teach vocabulary and skills. It seems that by the way he pays attention to the mouth movements and the way he sometimes focuses when trying to talk that there is something "lost" in the process of turning thought to speech. When he… read more

Need Ideas On Teaching My Son English
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

He is going to be 7 end of the year.

Started recognizing A- Z about one year ago - 5 to 6 yrs old

Can recognize 1 to 10.
Basic vocabs are fine, though limited - cat, car, house, flower, fan, etc etc.....

Had also started basic phonics for him about 4 months ago, results had been rather inconsistent and tend to forget easily, and also has tendency to keep repeating confused sounds -

Just started to try spelling… read more
