Does anyone have experience with getting a diagnosis for an older child? My step daughter is 10 and still hasn't had testing. We are finally on a waitlist for neuropsych. Any advice on what we cando while we wait?

This inquiry is for those who have adult sons or daughters receiving state aide. Our son was able to receive adult services before the age of 21. He attends an adult day program, but we also were able to receive funding for support services. We put in our budget for the moment 10 hours a week ( either all on one weekend day or splitting it up). This is different than respite services. Within the last 24 hours the police has been called to report we are making a disturbance. We love in the same place for months, no new Neighbor's, but as of yesterday new problems.

I have been experiencing the cold shoulder treatment more often now. My son is a teen, ans it seems to be "too much" for others to be around. He can feel it too.

Now that my twin granddaughters are going to turn 18 in July, every govt program, every doctor, ever therapist, everybody is asking about guardianship and do we have it. My son is going to be 9 I am trying to find him a good backpack for school. He has a dedicated device he takes with him to school and now with winter snow coming snowpants are a must. So i am looking for something big enough that is durable and has a pocket for a device. Any suggestions?

My 10 year old son (and his 9 year old typical brother) really want a dog and I am thinking about getting him a companion dog, but I am conflicted. My son is quite high functioning, he does not bolt or put himself in danger 99% of the time, or need help with any everyday activities (he takes care of all his personal grooming, homework, making his breakfast and lunch, etc), or need help at school, but he is sometimes socially awkward though he has a number of friends at school.

Does anyone in California know if you can take a paid family leave to care for your child while going through the autism diagnosis process?

I recently received a call from DDA services wanting to set up and Individual and family service plan (IFSP) for my son. Has anyone ever had this and does anyone know what this would entail? Or how I should prepare?
