PS he was the best baby ever though.
My boy is 6 with ASD. Potty training has gone as far as he will sit for about 30 sec on potty. He will strip off a dirty brief and he apparently enjoys sneaking into quiet spaces to pee in cups, as well as using the dog bowl for target practice. We tried sending him into bathroom with Dad for a visual que. But he just wants to play in the bowl. Any helpful ideas out there?
Maybe a urinal for the bathroom- https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Realistic-...
My daughter is two and we live in Portland, Oregon. We are looking for a developmental pediatrician that can do a formal medical diagnosis for her. Mostly, so we can get all of her services paid for. We would be willing to drive to Seattle if needed. If anyone has any names other than the major hospitals (wait is 9 months+), I would love to get her in faster!
Thank you!
Be sure to click on "Find Parents" and search for parents near you. Then you can connect with them and check out their teams to see who they recommend. Hope this helps!

It would be easier to explain it to the child’s parent & then hopefully she or he could teach their child about your son & his specific ways of play. Most toddlers aren’t receptive to adult… read more
Does anyone else have a problem with their child licking any and everything? My daughter cannot seem to stop. It's as if she's compelled to do it. I'm at my wit's end. One of these days she's going to lick the wrong person/shopping trolley/toy and she's going to get seriously ill. Does anyone have any solutions for this issue?
I am pretty certain it's from Sensory Integration Disorder. There are a lot of websites where you can buy stuff for all sensory issues from soft clothing to weighted blankets. I also use Amazon.
Does anyone else with a toddler who has an ASD (my daughter is high functioning) have MAJOR sleep issues? As in, HOURS to get them to bed, and up for HOURS in the middle of the night throwing tantrums?
She "needs" anything and everything... a drink, back scratched, her blankets just right, someone to lay with her.
Then, when it's time to leave, it's "I'm not feeling so good."
Her default even during the day is to whine, scream, and cry. We cannot for the life of us figure out how to help… read more
Hope all is improving since your post. Probiotics have improved lots, including constipation and tantrums at night. Let us know how things are going.
Care Home give liquid vitamins to nonverbal son and which he likes taking but at the moment won't take the Omega 3,6,9 vitamin and thinking getting him smaller capsules?
How do you convince your child?
Luke and Kate were both very orally defensive as toddlers (and even through the single digit ages). But both are in their 30s now, and take pills (even big capsules) without a fuss. Good thing, too… read more
I’ve been trying to get ihss but have been denied for my 3 year old toddler. Don’t know why I’ve been denied.?
I had applied when my daughter was 5 and I was also denied because its “parent responsibility”. I reapplied when she turned 8 and was denied because supposedly I didn’t work or left a full time job. I… read more
