I'm looking for the best southern state with the best resources. We're trying not to move back to Ohio, but we're not receiving much help where we're at.
Not southern but I saw one individual say they were considering moving north. I can say that having my child involved with MMCC (Margaret Murphys Center for Children) has been awesome in Maine. We… read more
We just relocated and are looking to find respite for my 4.5 year old son in the Southern California (Manhattan Beach). Does anyone have recommendations?
Check with your Regional Center. We are a client of Regional Center in our area and receive free respite hours.
We are desperately trying to figure out where to go to get help for our 4 year old non verbal asd son. We are currently in southern ky which (pardon language) sucks as far as resources, therapy are concerned. We are to the point of relocation. Any input to best state will be appreciated. He was accepted to a school in Florida called FACE in Tampa, but not sure about the area. We have also looked at Ohio.
Relocating here just to attend FACE would be dissapointing to you. Not saying it is not a good school, just not all that to relocate for. The whole school system here is in turmoil. Even charters like… read more
On the 17th we will find out an answer to Jonathan being ASD or Aspbergers.
Our son doesnt line things up.
He doesnt have a fixed interest in 1 thing.
He is non verbal.
His only advanced area is his mobility yet he walks on tip toe.

Sorry my Tesco guy is absolutely fab, an autistic father of 2 x autistic kids. Hes like a guru, I hadnt seen him since January.
Our toddler has been diagnosed recently. We currently live in New York City, however, due to our job we may need to relocate to Northern/Central New Jersey or South Florida (Miami Metro). What area has the best early intervention program for toddlers? Also, we are considering getting another job to avoid moving from NYC, if it turns out NYC will be the best option for our child. Thank you very much for your suggestions.
Could you please shortly share you experience?
My 19 year old son has ASD/BIPOLAR II and we are in IL. There is nothing here to help him. Not even a decent hospital if he needs help. I was looking at possibly florida or Arizona. But I'm afraid to leave the state and lose his medicaid waiver. However the waiver has done nothing but make him wait for 3 yrs. He has no assistance at this time and his behavior and mental health is declining. I'm visually impaired so I really need help ASAP. :(
I only know about BROWARD COUNTY IN FL ... sorry prayers your way :)
Looking for a grandmother in Northern Illinois who has a grandson, around age 4 with autism.
I have a 13-year-old daughter with autism, ADHD, ODD, and PPD. I am looking into sending her to the Boys and Girls Club for the summer. Does anybody have experience with this? She is very sneaky, she keeps trying to get me to let her hang out with her friends without adult supervision and doesn't understand why she can't.
I think the camp is a GREAT idea! Maybe you can share your “concerns” with the Director prior to enrolling her.
