My son loves to take things apart, or break things (that most of the time can’t be fixed). I know he doesn’t do it out of anger 9 times out of 10, but I just don’t know what’s going on in his head.
Trust me, I really am very encouraging and loving with him. If it looks in any way like it can be taken apart, he will. I agree it’s most likely a sensory thing, I just wish I could get him to… read more
My daughter has been dignosed with aspesgers and autism. Shes about to be 6. And my 4 year old has some of the same symtoms but shes worse when it comes to melt downs. My 6 year old holds her ears and bawls, while my four year old cant coop unless she has touch. She will scream and throw fits and pull her hair. My 6 year old needs to be alone or she every now and then needs hugs and she has a hard time in social things. She rather be a lone most of the time or some times she wants to play with… read more
I agree it sounds like sensory issues.. My five year old is the same way.
Our 16 year old high functioning son still won’t learn to tie laces
Hi Guys we relocated to Idaho and love it. But in about 4 yrs we are thinking about moving to Seattle. What are the best school districts and DDAs services?
Having some time to talk with parents who have done this for a while, almost all recommend Bellevue over Lake Washington
Hi everyone. My son has ASD and is turning 3 in a few days. He is also non verbal. He has been in an early intervention preschool for 6 months. For whatever reason, after never having done this before, he is scratching other classmates.
I have watched him do it to see if there was a trigger but I can’t figure it out. It’s almost like he knows he can do it. I have realized he is noticing peers for the first time and looks like he is reaching out to them but then quickly grabs them to scratch.
I have a 5 year old who use to hit, bite and kick me when she was upset.. We now have a emotion picture chart that she points to to tell me what she's feeling..It is helping her connect her feelings… read more

I am the mom of an 8 yr old boy with PPD-NOS and ADHD. We homeschool and are looking for homeschooling groups that focus on special needs children and have social gatherings or group activities. Any groups in North Texas who do this? We live in Anna, TX (north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex)
Try 4-H, a lot of homeschoolers belong. Even if you don't want to do the program, you can probably find another group that is perfect for you! Also, there are groups on Yahoo that you can probably… read more

My grandson puts himself to sleep by pulling on a sock with his mouth to start to untangle it until all of the threds are pulled out. What can I do to change this behavior.
Also, my 13-year-old grandson is home schooled and has no friends other than family and his puppy. Is there any kind of social activities he and others can attend? Are there any churches who may have Youth Meetings where kids can meet and greet, maybe dance and sing or play card and board games>
I let Stephen tear up old magazines.
There's always a 'event' that leads up to this, and lately it's been going to His mom's.
Figure out the Why/Trigger.
I have an Autistic son who turned 18 in 12/22. He is finishing his schooling years in June of 2023 with services offered until 2026. The post secondary program does not warrant much help for those on the spectrum. Many end up going back to the high school environment where there is an autsim program. We are looking to move out of state (from Maryland to the west coast of Florida). My son, I firmly believe, would benefit greatly by living in an environment in an assisted facility with daily… read more
