Hi, Has Anyone Used TheraPeeds In Fla? Asking For A Family From Abroad With A Tween Boy Who Is Looking Into This Center.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am a psychologist in Santiago, Chile. The family has been given this resource to address extreme tantrums and frustration tolerance issues. The center seems very expensive. Their own testimonials give positive reviews. I an wondering whether anyone has gone through their behavioral training for individuals and families and what your experience was like?

I agree that what happens before the behavior and how it is handled play a part in maintaining the behaviors.

IPad Obsession / Meltdown Guidance?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter has become obsessed with wanting our iPad 24/7, to the point where every time she wakes up or comes in the house she starts screaming for it. She likes to watch the same meerkat and otter videos sell the time but will move around within YouTube to select what she wants. Initially, I liked giving her time to do something she liked and I think she enjoys having something where she is in control, but now it's like she's tantruming all the time for it. I'm trying to restrict it to… read more

Sometimes it matters how you word things. Rather than saying "you need to.." or "I want you to..." pose it so it puts the child in the position of helper. "You would be a big help if you would..."… read more

Suggestions On How To Deal With Tantrums
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 6 yr old grandson has started having temper tantrums every time he is told, No, that he can't have what he wants. He is nonverbal and actually gets so angry that he tries to squeeze your arm or whatever part of your body is accessable and on occasion has even bitten. All this going on, while yelling at the top of his lungs. Telling him to go sit in his chair, does nothing but make him angrier and if you try to take him to sit down, he just stiffens his whole body and stays in the spot or… read more
