I am a psychologist in Santiago, Chile. The family has been given this resource to address extreme tantrums and frustration tolerance issues. The center seems very expensive. Their own testimonials give positive reviews. I an wondering whether anyone has gone through their behavioral training for individuals and families and what your experience was like?
I agree that what happens before the behavior and how it is handled play a part in maintaining the behaviors.
My daughter has become obsessed with wanting our iPad 24/7, to the point where every time she wakes up or comes in the house she starts screaming for it. She likes to watch the same meerkat and otter videos sell the time but will move around within YouTube to select what she wants. Every time I take my son (he's 3 years old and non verbal) to any gas station , Target , Walmart, he always demands a toy or candy. What ever he decides on ! And when I can I do buy him what he wants but I can't do it every time ! If I do not get him what he wants its a mess ! He hits ,bites, kicks, screams, pulls hair ! My son is 10 years old and sometimes he can be very defiant, when I ask him to do something he chooses to ignore me or go into a tantrum, I try to ignore the behavior or redirect. Sometimes this can be difficult.

My son overreacts with negative emotions, especially negative. It is not your typical overeacting...he screams and cries beyond normal.

My 6 yr old grandson has started having temper tantrums every time he is told, No, that he can't have what he wants. He is nonverbal and actually gets so angry that he tries to squeeze your arm or whatever part of your body is accessable and on occasion has even bitten.
