we just moved back from a long stay in the middle east and our son is autistic with ID and he is now 25 years old. we live in virginia now and looking for any program that can help us place him even if it is a private as all the state funded has a long waiting list. so we can pay for his placement until such time we get the waiver approval. please help us if you you have a name or a resource of a consultant to guide us through

My son is a 25 autistic with aggression and destructive behavior please help

My son's new pediatrician suggested we get genetic testing on my son. His previous pediatrician also suggested it when he was diagnosed but we didn't want to do it because we didn't see the testing changing the outcome. Will doing the testing help with his autism or is it not worth it?

We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. Does anyone else out there have a child who was also born with a birth defect aside from being diagnosed with ASD? My daughter was born with a rare birth defect called Gastroschisis. She was born with all of her intestines, her bladder and ovaries on the outside of her body. My 5 year old son often asks me, "Is this a dream?". Do I need to be concerned about this? Is he not understanding reality vs. Fantasy? Could this be a sleep issue? Anyone else have this issue?
