I am not completely sure about that therapy
Try to find ABA that is done at home. When your child is most comfortable. I can tell you that ABA has been a blessing to my son and our family. I highly recommend it.
when they give you a diagnoses of pdd/nos its usally because they cant pin point the excact problem. i am taking this in parent traing this week for aba for the reginol center.
I was wondering if anyone has a child with both diagnoses and how did they differentiate between the two. I feel as if my lil guy may have both but I’m not sure because I feel the two have so many similar symptoms. Thank you for any and all information.
@A MyAutismTeam Member it’s so great to hear a success story. It’s so rare to hear about how children with disabilities and learning disorders turn out as they become young adults and adults.
After 14 months since our first contact with the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta, we thought we had reached the stage for a formal diagnosis but we blew it because we were late due to traffic and told to come back in a couple of months. My wife thinks paying $1790 for the diagnosis evaluation alone is a waste would be better spent on more ST or back to OT again. Our lateness was our fault but we both felt insulted that even nearly paying two grand and waiting over year for our daughter wasn't… read more
That's terrible. Try telling them it's an emergency and to please out you on a waiting list in case someone cancels. If they still don't see him sooner, find someone else. Where do you live?
My 7-year-old autistic son is high-functioning and goes to grade 1 in a regular school and regular class. He has some challenges with paying attention, sitting, and following some rules but he is doing well academically. His teacher has told us we should consider sending him to special classes in other schools. We feel that the teacher's advice is mostly for her comfort rather than the benefit of our child. Any advice on what should be our strategy toward this problem?
My son attends regular school, but he has a IEP (Individualized Education Plan) & other support/resources available for him. I think if the school can't accommodate your son's needs then consider… read more
Just wondering if anyone else has gotten Speech therapy denied and how to get it coverd by insurance. I called to appeal and was told I have nothing to appeal because there is denied claims. His initial eval was reviewed by UMR RN's (our health insurance) and was determined not medically necessary. Do I have anything I can do?
Speech therapy often bills out under ICD10 code F82.4. This code is used for educational purpose and not covered by private insurers. If you have a ASD/PPD-NOS diagnoses. And your UMR benefit plan… read more
The school team did a thorough evaluation based on several months of observation and data. I agree with their autism conclusion based on my own observations and research. There are very few child neuropsychologists in my area and the waiting lists are quite long. Now that we have an IEP and we are giving her the necessary support at school, how urgent is it to get a medical diagnosis? My daughter does not have any behavioral issues and I do not think a medical diagnosis will entitle her to… read more
I agree with Janeen. Services are available for her with a medical diagnosis.
Just back from the neurologist.. My sons laughing may be a sign of seizure, gelastic seizure, anyone ASD kids have this diagnosis? How do you help them before we are fully diagnosed? Any info on it would be great, thank you
My son is 13 and the uncontrolled laughing has been worse lately. About for 3 months. I first noticed it the year he was diagnosed when he was 10. I just researched and read about galestic seizures… read more
This is becoming problematic over here because he will strip the moment my back is turned or attention diverted. It's not necessarily a clothing texture thing. He doesnt have an issue wearing clothes to go out of the house and doesnt show a strong aversion to anything except a senory vest. He just simply prefers to be butt naked at home and has no concept of why wearing clothing is necessary, which is a problem when he's not potty trained. Also, getting into the colder months the house runs a… read more
Hi! My daughter used to disrobe at night before falling asleep in the winter months as well. As long as it's not an aversion to the fabric or something along those lines, I suggest putting him a… read more
