I am looking for a elementary school in San Diego that have good special ed programs for my autistic son. We live in san Diego unified school district boundary. I wonder if it's complicated to enroll for schools in another district for a kid with IEP?

Does anybody know if there is a public school district in Texas who has ABA in their program?
there is a difference between ABA and ABA-Discrete trail protocols. Not all schools do discrete trial training, but all do ABA (applied behavioral analysis) whether through daily programing or… read more
Hey y'all! I'm writing something & I noticed that on our school district's website I had to hunt to find the Special Education Program. It was completely left off of the elementary page. Does your district feature its SPED program? If so, what does it highlight? What kinds of great things are they doing for your kids? Thanks so much!!!
The issue that some people got into Special education looking for easier jobs with governmental benefits. The curriculum would not require constant training (except, yes, they are required to attend a… read more
My son ,who is 3.5 yrs old diagnosed with ASD had been going to special education since mid Nov 2013. He gets ABA for 10 hrs and pre-school for 9 hrs. We are currently looking at moving from Boston to Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar or other surrounding coastal San Diego communities. I have a 6-year-old son with high functioning autism who will be entering 2nd grade when we move in 2018. Does anyone have experience with how inclusive (or not) these schools tend to be? Because of his mild autism my son will be in a co-teaching environment for his next year (1st grade) and I think that is an excellent model that will hopefully spread to more public… read more
I missed a point in my reply. Rancho Santa Fe county (which seems to be independently managed county) doesn't have special preschool in their school district. So kids are sent to neighboring areas… read more
Hi everybody. We are visiting San Francisco in January, and I'd like to hear from you about the schools your children attend in the Bay Area. We are moving to California soon, and I need to research about schools before searching for our home since one depends on the other.
My son will be four years old by the time we get there.
Thanks for all your help. You're just wonderful.
This is an old post but for anyone looking for an update on the Bay Area I have a few things that I've personally experienced. My daughter was diagnosed when she was about 2 1/2-3 and we received the… read more
I am moving to foantana / inland empire from Los angeles area this summer. My son is HFA and will more than likely start 3rd grade in an Autism program. Does anyone have any opinion or input in regards to fontana and autism/special ed? Or inland regional center? I am really scared about the move and services out that way. We aren't receiving much support at the moment. I am tired of fighting LAUSD .

The doctor has prescribed ABA for Laurel to occur at school through a provider, but the school system is trying to block the provider from providing therapy in the school setting. IEP meeting is scheduled for Dec 6th. Suggestions?
Thank you @A MyAutismTeam Member ! I needed that pep talk & good talking points. We go in at noon. Wish me luck!
My son attends a private Christian school and they do not do IEPs. How can I go about seeing if my son needs one. Most of his issues are social but he's got low grades and does have trouble understanding the math concepts. Do private schools have to provide IEPs?
Private schools do not have the resources of special education teachers. I would get him/her out of private school and find a good public school with great special education teachers.
Does anyone know of any good schools for two kids that are low functioning? I've been dealing with Everett school district and finally found a decent one. But they will have to go to a different one in 6th grade. My spouse works in Sultan which is near Monroe. So Snohomish, Monroe would be ideal. But Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville wouldn't be out of the question. Any input would be appreciated.
@A MyAutismTeam Member any information you have is welcomed. Thank you so much
