Seeking A Social Skills Group In South NJ
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Seems that there are SO many wonderful services in North Jersey, from adaptive dance to camp to social skills groups and nothing in Southern Jersey. My 6 year old daughter would benefit SO much from attending a group. I've googled my heart out to no avail...just wondering if there's one I'm not aware of in the Burlington County area. Thanks!!

Good Schools In Irvine, California?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). The school has offered the basics, and not even OT! After sending letters she will finally have an assessment. She is transitioning to Kinder. At this point we are willing to move wherever services are… read more

How Best To Discipline My 7 Year Old Daughter For Not Listening.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

i.e. No, you cannot go in that room, and she proceeds to go in that room.

She is mostly verbal and understands right from wrong and what she is and is not supposed to do. but certain times she just does not listen. I am struggling with how to correct the behavior.

I am also still struggling with my 5 year old. I don’t want him to follow me to the basement because we have a lot of tools down there that could hurt him. I still have to carry/drag him back… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have recently gotten a service dog for my four year old who is autistic bc she bolts and to calm her melt downs. He has been around her four about five days now and does not seem to be bonding with her. I know it has only been five days but when she was having a meltdown he ran away from her. He does not want to seem to want to go check on her when she is in her room with me or sleep in her room with her. He will bark and whine at the door till I let him out. finally I been ending up around… read more

Does Anyone Else Have An Issue With Their Child Wandering?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We have recently started to have an issue with our 3 year old wandering. Our house is locked down like an army camp (indoor and outdoor cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He seems to be drawn to water and other very dangerous situations. We moved about one month ago to our new home and last week he escaped around 7pm (after placing his shoes by the door which I believe was strategic), and made it about a block away. He will be 4 in April.

We had to secure windows in the upstairs of our home out of… read more
