In preparation for our IEP meeting to set up next years plan I reviewed my son's IEP and progress notes. At the beginning of March, he is nowhere near meeting any of his goals, in fact a couple of the goals he regressed or showed no progress after the first 4 week grading period. I am a single mother of a 5 year old Autistic son. He has lived in and out of hospitals his entire life due to extensive medical conditions as well. He does receive SSI. It's impossible to hold a full time job til now. I finally have him stable. I have lost my car, my home, multiple jobs and can't got back to finish school until I get these necessities. If anyone can offer ideas, please I beg you, let me know.

We live in St. Louis, MO. My son has a diagnosis of autism and recently was diagnosed with ADD as well. We are having a lot of problems with behavior consisting of aggression towards others, self injury, yelling, refusal, etc. After butting heads with the IEP team at his school they had him evaluated by the SSD psychiatrist. My son's IEP meeting is coming up and we are trying coordinate the date and time with everyone. The SSD teacher gave us two available dates, one of which the Gen. Ed. teacher would not be able to attend unless the principal is able to find another teacher within the school to cover her class for 30 minutes so she could attend for a little while. My 7 yr old son has autism and we have noticed an increase in issues with attentiveness and focus in school and at home. He has always had problems with this however I feel we have made excuses until now due to him being so young. Now that his responsibilities at home and school are increasing it is becoming a problem. My son is 20 months old and was diagnosed last month with autism and spd. I have him in OT, ST and PT but want to start aba as soon as possible. I just have no idea where to take him. I have an appt set up for an eval with behavioral innovations this Friday but the idea of leaving him there scares me and I didn't get a good feeling from them on the phone. My son was diagnosed at 22 months old in 2008. He is now 7. I'm wondering if there is a need to be re-evaluated or if his diagnosis will ever change. I know my son still has autism, I just wonder if where he is on the spectrum may have changed over time.

Does anyone know why many people criticize autism speaks for a misappropriation of funds? On my FB thread so many..... many of whom are on the spectrum themselves, really go hard at the organization!!!!

My son loves to eat and eats quite a few things, but he will regurgitate his food and seems to be eating it a second time ( so gross I know). I don't know why he does this or even how to stop it, any ideas would be great.
