I was able to get help faster by going to Centria Autism Center. They took years off the waiting list. You have to call around to your local centers, don't stop. When they get cancellations some will… read more
This is becoming problematic over here because he will strip the moment my back is turned or attention diverted. It's not necessarily a clothing texture thing. He doesnt have an issue wearing clothes to go out of the house and doesnt show a strong aversion to anything except a senory vest. He just simply prefers to be butt naked at home and has no concept of why wearing clothing is necessary, which is a problem when he's not potty trained. Also, getting into the colder months the house runs a… read more
Hi! My daughter used to disrobe at night before falling asleep in the winter months as well. As long as it's not an aversion to the fabric or something along those lines, I suggest putting him a… read more
Thanks. For the tip
I agree with another commenter here that you shouldn’t worry about what other parents or caregivers say. You are the most important, and knowledgeable person on your own child’s needs. I have a 5 year… read more
Good Evening Everyone. So My son has a bonding thing when sleeping. He can not sleep alone. He is now 13 years old & STILL refuses to sleep alone. Before I would lay with him until he dozed off then go to my bed when he's asleep. As he is getting older I would then sit on the edge of the bed until he goes to sleep. Hello Melissa, you are in good company. I would suggest calling an IEP and requesting a behavior assessment. With the assessment results, they can provide services from a school behaviorist.
Do you feel like you’re doing the right thing? Like you know what to do? Like you’ve got this?
This subject is a trigger for most. Especially for those that are in the beginning of their diagnosis. Hell we are still in the beginning. Most of the time I feel I’m fighting for Aziel’s form of ASD… read more
I work in early childhood education and while we can’t diagnose we can screen and refer. I did our screenings on my daughter and with the results consulted for a screening and have been placed on a wait list. Unfortunately in our area the wait list is almost 2 years long. I am struggling to get support from those around us as it’s hard for them to believe she would have autism. My parents especially, I know it’s contributing to outdated views. Any advice?
Unfortunately there is a waitlist everywhere around here. It’s something we struggle with in our job as we often have to refer for further screenings. I know she has autism, I just find it hard… read more
Talk with her doctor. If it is disruptive enough she may need a tiny bit of medicine to help her. I used to have trouble spending the night over places when I was younger. Now that I have had panic… read more
