My son’s aba therapist made us a social story. He was doing exactly what your daughter is doing. We had to have him in a backward sleeper, taped up so he couldn’t reach to open. It was such a… read more
My son wants to throw things away. I have no idea why he wants to do this. But he wants to throw things away so badly that he actually will rip up items so he "justify" throwing them away. He throws away books, clothes, food, etc. It happens every day, throughout the day, and multiple times per day.
He's 18 so I can't physically stop him. I am able to delay him. He also gets sneaky about it to the extent of getting up during the night to throw things away.
Ideas anyone?
Did you ever find a solution to this? Currently dealing with the exact same behavior.
Levi will be in 4th grade this fall and his teach thinks that he is ready to move to gen ed classes..... POST IEP we have decided to NOT move him to regular gen ed yet
My sweet and affectionate 3 year old has had to completely stop naps. When he wakes up from any length of nap he goes into the worse meltdown mode I have ever seen. This can last for an hour or more. Nothing we do consoles him. So, we changed his schedule, earlier bedtime. This is working great for him but after a long day of therapy he sometimes falls asleep in the car. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes . We had to cut naps out for my daughter or she refused to sleep at night . We cut them out at 1.5. If she naps she is extremely angry the remainder of the day. To prevent sleeping in the car we… read more
Thank you for your kind words.
Has any one has success with white noise, pink noise brown? My son already takes meds to sleep but it’s the falling asleep that he has issues with. It was suggested to try a noise machine but when I started to research- so many. I had no idea. Has anyone had better success with one compared to another.

What does boredom look like in your ASD kid? What actions do they do when they are bored? How can you tell? If they are not bored just under-stimulated, how do you explain to others the difference??
@A MyAutismTeam Member Thank you so much for your response! You literally described what our son does for sensory seeking that leads to pain seeking. He does all that. He hasn’t let up since we… read more
Good Evening Everyone. So My son has a bonding thing when sleeping. He can not sleep alone. He is now 13 years old & STILL refuses to sleep alone. Before I would lay with him until he dozed off then go to my bed when he's asleep. As he is getting older I would then sit on the edge of the bed until he goes to sleep. Today as I type this I wanted to try a different method now that he is officially a teenager. I am sitting on a chair outside his room until he dozes off but he is tossing & turning &… read more
