Will My Son Freak Out On A Plane?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am afraid my 3yr old son will freak out on take off. He has severe Autism and hates sitting still. Are babies scared? He will be in his own seat. Also any advise for cribs big enough for a 3yr old, for our hotel?

My classically autistic son loves planes. Takeoffs are his favorite. He was 4 when he first flew, and although he loves to jump around, he is always quiet and happy on planes.

He has had social difficulties in school, at church, at birthday parties, restaurants, stores... just about everywhere. He has had to adapt to travel by plane in order to have his court-ordered visitation with his non-custodial parent, but always with one of his parents escorting him. Recently, the other parent has insisted that our son fly unaccompanied for his… read more

Airplane Rides
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is there a training program for children with autism who seems to have difficulty getting on board airplanes in New York City or in the tri-state area? We have tried to get him on board and ended up not being able to go because he did not want to get in. He’s 16 y/o and we are planning to travel to Asia hopefully. Do you have any suggestions/recommendations?

A MyAutismTeam Member

Thank you. So it’s is really recommended to take a medication then? I was actually also wondering if there is like a training program for kids/teens with autism to ride a plane. Like for them to… read more
