Ideas For Behavior Intervention Plans For Aspergers And Bipolar Disorder
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone, I was hoping I could reach out to this great community for any behavior intervention suggestions. I have a review ARD tomorrow for my 10 year old daughter that's in 5th grade. She has aspergers and bipolar disorder however the school has qualified her for special-education services under emotionally disturbed. The thing is for the most part I know her triggers at home but at school I'm not there with her so I can offer suggestions from what we do at home but it doesn't always… read more

Any Advice Going Into My First IEP Meeting For My 3rd Grader With HFA?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know this is last minute, but any advice going into the IEP meeting tomorrow? It's our first one... An eligibility determination meeting. I have therapist and social worker going in with me and all paperwork in order. Very nervous and not sure what to expect... Does anyone have some advice for me?

I am glad to hear that it went well for you! Sometimes social work can help with unstructured time, but it sounds like a good team and his needs are being met.

How To Order Diapers
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,

I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin. We just received forwardhealth card (Wisconsin Medicaid) for my son(7 yrs old) who has ASD. We'd like to order diapers
with this card. I heard the company that supplied diapers is called J&B Medical Supplies.

My questions is, is there a formal process to order diapers from them? or I just go to their website to place the order like we order stuff from Amazon?

Thanks!

I went to the company's website, it is J&B Medical Supply( for Wisconsin residents).

Basically the website says there are a few steps one needs to go through. The company will get a

Biomat Benefit For Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,

I have been reading articles on Mitochondria and Autism in the past few weeks.

Here is one of them by researchers from UC-Davis.

The "comment" part is easier to read.

After reading the article, I think there is a connection between Mitochondria and Autism.

On Amazon, a lot of people gave the feedback on the benefit for back pain and other body pains, but

I have not found a feedback on Autism.

Anyone has experience with biomat?

Thanks!

Students Included In A "convenient" Grade Level, Versus There Stated/actual Grade Level?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My foster son is in 7th grade (self contained ID classroom) and came home with a permission slip for participating in a 6th grade inclusion class for "family and consumer science" (he is "included" in one elective each day)... I wrote back to his teacher that he is in 7th grade...her response was "our students attend 6th grade electives"... I feel this is wrong (and possibly illegal) does anyone know the "rules" regarding what grade level students are supposed to be included in? Especially… read more

Does My High Functioning ASD Child Belong In Gen-Ed Class Room?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a high functioning ASD child. He goes to special classroom but spends 60% of his time in Gen-Ed. I met a lady with kids on the ASD recently and she says that my son needs to go to Gen -Ed class. I was very confused as to why. My son had so much improvement in the past 2 years that he is very different child now. He has some bad days/ moments though. It's a work in progress. But I am second guessing myself about his placement in school now that I talked to that lady. Did anyone face… read more

Nonstop Challenging Behavior From 8 Yr Old, Non Verbal, Autistic, Adhd Child?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter visits every few years and I also fly to her so I am not around my grandson often. He constantly runs to and climb to top of couch, jump, run up 6 stairs and jump to hardwood floor, then up to dresser climb up and jump then run over and grab his brothers soda and dump it. My daughter keeps usual routines, takes him swimming for a few hours but never slows down at all. She tells him to stop but he just continues on and on. If she takes away his little computer he Carries and uses it… read more

Does Anyone Else Have An Issue With Their Child Wandering?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We have recently started to have an issue with our 3 year old wandering. Our house is locked down like an army camp (indoor and outdoor cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He seems to be drawn to water and other very dangerous situations. We moved about one month ago to our new home and last week he escaped around 7pm (after placing his shoes by the door which I believe was strategic), and made it about a block away. He will be 4 in April.

We had to secure windows in the upstairs of our home out of… read more

Does Anyone Know Why Many Children With Autism Tend To Run With Their Arms Straight Out Or Stiff At The Sides, Not Bent And Fists Forward?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

It obviously is not an issue, I'm just curious because my son runs this way and I see many other children with autism running like this, too.
