If so, what are their programs like for children diagnosed with ASD? Are you happy with their programs? Are there classes that are integrated with gen Ed? i know their schools are highly ranked for gen Ed but I can't find any info on their special Ed.

I live in and work in a school district that allows parents to get their kids "labeled" and then use the label to get away with bad behaviors. Punching the teacher is not an ASD or ADHD behavior. Cussing at students randomly because the teacher won't give you what you want is not related to ASD or ADHD. Walking out of class and not returning is not on the spectrum. An argument can be made for non-inclusive classrooms and education model. I can see both sides of this issue .

Im looking for recommendations of the best self contained classrooms for either cumberland county or robeson county in north carolina!
My 5 yr old has a history of wandering. Thankfully it does not happen all the time, but often enough to be concerned. I've got ID tags on all his shirts, shoes, lunch box, and backpack (he refuses to wear a bracelet), and registered him with the 'take me home' program. Certainly I'd rather not have a need for any of that to be used. What have some of your schools done to discourage/prevent a child with autism from wandering from the classroom?

Yes, please address your concerns, tell them what your son is telling you but need more information because you can’t understand him clearly.
My first grade son attends special day class for academically at level kids who are working on behaviors. Probably half the kids have ASD, but it is not a class only for those diagnosed with ASD and all of the kids are high functioning. The class of 10 boys is all on the same behavior plan which reinforces good behavior and staying on task throughout the whole day by providing 3 levels of rewards, with ipads and hotwheels being the highest level reward. My son who is in first grade has had a rough couple of months, and these past two weeks it has gotten worse since being put on new medication. We are having a safety plan meeting this week and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to put into place and such. He’s been getting very aggressive and running away (out the building). There are 'Tracking' devices available which you can slip in their shoe(s) in case if they stray away from where they are supposed to be

Does anyone have any experience with montessori schools with an ASD child? Pros/cons? The diagnosing therapist said he didn't recommend it due to the lack of structure but I've been told by others it may be a good option. My son is 4 and we are looking ahead to the next school year.
