Any Parent Suggestions On Teeth Brushing. My Son Hates The Sensory Issue And Now Has 21 Cavities At 16 Yrs Old. Thoughts?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My Son at 16 is taller then I so I can't hold him down and brush. We put photos of decaying teeth on the mirror, tried spin brushes, the dentist lectured him, but we fear after we fix his teeth, if it keeps up he will begin losing them. 21 cavities will cost us $2000 after insurance...like we need another bill with all the doctors, meds and therapy.

Have you tried to "fun" rinses that are blue or pink? Maybe they can help.

Eating Habits
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is almost three and nonverbal. He has not ate solid foods since he was one and a half. He only drinks from a bottle just milk but I do mix yogurts in them when I can get him to drink it. He also drinks PediaSure. His iron levels are good and he is healthy no problem with weight loss, sleep well and is active. I'm currently on a waiting list to get a diagnosis. He is fearful of anything coming near his mouth he doesn't put toys in his mouth, but he also doesn't allow us to brush his teeth… read more

Can Anyone Offer Tips For Tooth Brushing?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Michael is 3 and it's a battle to get his teeth brushed. I'm sure I'm not doing a good enough job. He forces the brush out repeatedly and clamps his teeth down on it other times. It got better with an electric toothbrush, but still not great or easy. His Dr. recently recommended going back to a finger toothbrush. I got chewed on so badly I felt like I'd been attacked. Needless to say, I'm not going back in there like that again! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

electric toothbrush that plays music/ did Justin bieber for a grandchild// sugarfree gum can help get junk out of the back teeth, where they're less apt to put toothbrush
