Will my son ever talk he makes noises and hand gestures but will I ever hear his voice he says ma and I love you every so often.
I wonder the same thing about my son
He enjoys learning :)
So I'm not sure how to word this one but here goes nothing! I've approached multiple doctors for my 13 year old daughter who has asd and she says she hears voices that tell her to do bad things. I've had numerous doctors tell me this is normal for girls with asd, has anyone else experienced this???
Someone already suggested signing. Sometimes when my son gets overwhelmed and frustrated, we will do some simple signing and he seems to respond to it a little better. His frustrations usually come… read more
I have a very newly diagnosed toddler and am looking for advice on the tried and tested ways others have used to stay on top of which specialist requires what follow up, schedule of therapies, tracking milestones/goals, and keeping up with insurance reimbursements etc… It’s kinda mind boggling right now and I’d love advice from others on what worked or didnt for them.

Both kids wake up at 5am and talk as if they are screaming and Just talk and babble all day long. They are hyper as well. How can a mother deal with this with no breaks?
My son is 14 and still forgets sometimes and talks too loudly. He can also be an incessant talker. I used a hand signal when he was younger (I tapped my thumb and forefinger together) to cue him that… read more
My son does not understand when or how to be quiet. I understand that this is a normal problem for most children however my son likes to be overly loud during times when I ask him to be quiet. He seems to think its funny and his teacher is getting upset with him during the morning moment of silence. Does anyone have a more affective method of getting him to be quiet? Im sure lots of you have or had this problem yourselves.
This is really loaded. There are many ways to encourage a child who doesn't understand the need to moderate their voice in different situations. I have seen and used verbal, visual, and physical cues… read more
My wife and I are very music oriented and I have the luxury of being able to list music while I'm at work. Every once in awhile I hear a song that I feel like I can relate to when going through struggles with a child on the spectrum
Songs that really help are Every Second by the band From Ashes to New with Eva Under Fire, I Dare You and Atlas Falls by Shinedown, Need You Now (How Many Times) by Plumb and Come Around and Elevate by Papa Roach. The list could go on and but I wanted to know what… read more

My 5 year old autistic daughter has been saying she has been hearing voices. Not like an imaginary friend playing with her... But more like a cat telling her to do things or another voice telling her to do things (not always nice things)... It's not that she is trying to make it up to get out of trouble (I don't think); she has even mentioned it without having anything happened. Has anyone else's child experienced anything like this??? I know it sounds crazy. Please don't bash my daughter or… read more
I agree with Low_Budget_Dave, get your daughter screened for possible mental issues, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure once diagnosed, your daughter will get the help she needs.
My 7 yrs old autistic daughter can't stand her dad, I could almost say she hates him. She specially hates when he talks to her or tries to play with her. She doesn't like men in general, only her brother and one uncle can get close to her without her having a tantrum. Does anyone have that same problem? Just to clarify, there is no chance that she is being or was ever abused!
Does your little girl like movement, deep pressure, and rough housing? If she does, then have daddy do it! Dads are the best at that kind of stuff. If she doesn't like it then have dad just sit by… read more
