Level 2/3 Verbal Communication
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Curious, are there children diagnosed as level 2/3 that are able to ever communicate verbally successfully? Our son is 2 1/2 and non verbal currently. Hes in speech therapy 4xwk and im wondering if verbal communication could be a possibility down the line? As long as hes able to communicate with us in some fashion i guess thats all that matters but how wonderful would it be to hear him talk.

What Would His Diagnosis Really Be?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

How can I tell what my son's true diagnosis is? We have been given ASD, ADHD, and PDD-NOS. Two docs agree that he's on the Spectrum, high functioning and the other doctor said it's just ADHD and that he doesn't have true Autism symptoms. She said he's too engaging and that it's popular now to lable Autism. Mind you, she spend a total of one hour with Collin and the other doctors have known him for several years now. What should my next step be?

Sometimes a kid just doesn't fit neatly within a diagnosis. But get familiar with the DSM checklist for autism. You'll notice that engaging is not on there. His level of engagement (ie. focus) is… read more

How do u know if your child needs ABA?

A MyAutismTeam Member

It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

ARNP That Son Has Been Seeing Says That His Case Is "too Complicated" For Her!.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our 6 yr old ds (ADHD, PDD-NOS) has been seeing an ARNP for sometime now. When my dh took him to his appt. this evening, she informed him that Jacob's case is "too complicated" for her and recommended that he see someone else! She has also decided that in addition to ADHD and PDD-NOS, Jakie also has Asperger's (which his 10 yr old brother has), OCD and is self-destructive! She continued him on the 20 mg Daytrana patch, even though it doesn't seem to be doing jack squat! Also, another therapist… read more
