we just moved back from a long stay in the middle east and our son is autistic with ID and he is now 25 years old. we live in virginia now and looking for any program that can help us place him even if it is a private as all the state funded has a long waiting list. so we can pay for his placement until such time we get the waiver approval. please help us if you you have a name or a resource of a consultant to guide us through

How do u know if your child needs ABA?
It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

I live in Lake Co., IL. The school district recognizes that this therapy is necessary for my son to be able to fully participate in school. He currently attends school for four hours a day and is in middle school at a therapeutic day school.
My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. He was on respiradone and the doctor changed it to invega which worked for the first 7 days and then all hell broke loose whe. He started to become so hyperactive and was eating until he vomits. My son has autistic disorder as well as anxiety disorder. Over te past few months we have discussed the possibility of medication for his anxiety and sleeping. I am VERY NERVOUS about this and I don't know what to do. I don't want to see his personality change, aside from fewer meltdowns and more sleep. Be careful not to strong a medication cuz Will make child pale almost dead like and sleep all the time and not able to do basic things like walking if to medicated
