How Can I Encourage My 5 Year Old To Keep His Hands Out Of His Mouth?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

My 5 year old used to often put his hands in his mouth, mostly in new situations or when he was asked to do something challenging I think. But about 2 months ago, he started doing it all the time, regardless of the situation. His classmates don't want to be around him. His teacher is always telling him to wash his hands or put hand sanitizer on them. Any advice would be much appreciated.

He does not do such thing at daycare, but whenever he comes home from daycare, he eats and then start humping pillow on the bed. I saw he has erection. Is this normal?. Usually he does that for over 30 minutes. I do really need to know if anybody saw something like this in the past.

School Issues.....
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Has anyone ever filed a complaint with their state's board of education because the district did not resolve the issue? My issue is my son's school has not had a speech therapist on staff all year. I found out the one from last year is still in the district but in a different position...... Did the issue get resolved after this? Was your child treated differently at school after and during complaint process?

How Are Your Low To Moderate ASD Kidsā€™ Behaviours?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

My son is 4. He is constantly moving. Climbing, reaching, snacking, jumping, wandering aroundā€¦ he cannot sit or stand still. Even if he watches tv, he is fidgeting. Are all ASD kids this hyper? He is constantly doing things he shouldnā€™t be doing. He understands, but does it anyway. I feel like Iā€™m on constant watch
When I see him behave this way, I am positive he is severely ADHD. The doctor we saw last week was speechless. She was sympathetic, but offered no solutions. He ran into the middleā€¦ read more

Is It Common For Kids With Autism To Have Little Self Motivation?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I see other kids want a drivers license, hunting license, buying things related to their hobbies etc and taking steps to do it. Mine says she wants to drive but won't open the book, wants her HS diploma but won't do the work etc. I am very goal oriented so this is very hard to wrap my mind around.

Yes. And the ā€œbreaking things downā€ into just the first step, and doing that, then talking about the 2nd step and doing that, and so on, is great advice.
