I feel as if I might be seeing things and over analyzing them because of my other children and because of working 1 to 1 with children who have disabilities. My youngest whose 15 months has had a complete personality change and has regressed she is no longer talking... She does not engage she never seems happy unless she is watching phineas and ferb. She just wonders around humming when anyone says her name she will not even acknowledge them and if she does its very brief. I know she can hear… read more

Is it ok to feed fish to children with autism? If so, what kinds are best? Thank you
The reason some do not want to feed autistic children fish is because of mercury, they think it causes autism. This is also the main reason people are against vaccinations the Mercury.
Yes Mercury is… read more
My son, who is almost 6 years old, has made a lot of progress in the past year, he talks more, and behave better. However this week he has changed a lot, going back to his behavior one year ago. The only trigger I can think of the my parents came back, they were here last Summer, when my son was more typical autistic. Maybe their appearance reminded him of last Summer, he is going back to his habit last Summer, refuse to talk, throw a lot of tantrum, etc. Has anyone experienced this kind of… read more
I used to get that a lot from Isaiah until one day he told me new things scare him and he likes the way things used to be. I explain more when we are doing some thing new.
Has anyone's child tried Ivig for elevated antibodies?
We just found out our son has two elevated enzymes. One is GAD 65 and the other is Cam kinase II.
We haven't but I do believe it is worthwhile if your insurance will cover it. In pilot IVIG trials, it seemed to help about 10% of ASD cases. For cases of certain regressive autism triggered by… read more

My four year old son was diagnosed at three in September 2014. What is the most important thing for newly diagnosed parents to know?
to take time for you. At first I would drop Isaiah off and cry in parking lot then drive to beach and cry some more. A few months later I asked my self how can I help him? I realized that if I relaxed… read more

My NT 22 month old son has started terrible twos and will start whining and screaming frequently when displeased. So now my 4.5 year old ASD daughter has started getting upset and wailing and screaming and hitting herself in the head the minute he starts warming up for an episode. She scripts "he hit his head" (I think she remembers a time when he hit his head), and "Kate screams, Thomas yells" and then cries and makes hyperventilating sounds. I try to calm her and tell her hands down and not… read more
Get his hearing tested, my 26 year old is hearing impaired and loud pitches still hurt his ears. Nancy from, Ga.
We are looking to move to Santa Monica in 2016. Currently, our son, 7, who has an Aspergers diagnosis, receives the following services as part of his IEP and would need these services in his new school: Speech, OT, PT, part-time aide and social supports. He is in a general education classroom setting with the opportunity for push in support as needed. He is quite bright academically but has trouble with transitions and social interactions. He is a year behind so he would be entering 2nd grade… read more

My son seems to enjoy hitting small children and toddlers. He will walk past babies and push them to the ground and then laugh about it. It's mortifying. As a parent, it is my duty to teach my child to socialize, but I live in constant worry when I'm with friends who have children. There is always an apology hanging from my lips, just waiting to be used. I've tried just about everything to get him to stop.
-I made him a social story about all of the different reasons it is not nice to hit… read more
