My son was recently diagnosed with high functioning ASD. We live in Glenview, IL. He is almost 3 years old. We are in the process of picking providers and would love recommendations.
My son has never been interested in drawing, coloring, writing or anything of that sort. We buy him coloring books and crayons, and he would rather flip through the pages. We bought him an easel and he will use the chalk or dry erase markers but the majority of the time he wants us to do hand over hand with him. He can spell now with wooden letters, but still no drawing or coloring or scribbling. I know he's only four, but has anyone found any useful techniques to encourage fun ways (or any… read more
The FleXion pen is nice for written work since things can be erased when the ink is wet.
Our aba therapist quit and we have a 20 kid wait list at the only agency in town so I am getting desperate
Has anyone used the aba services as a parent who has to do their own aba in rethink?
Only did the free trial. Certainly had a lot of content and videos. We didn't use it and went with an agency. I would give it a try for a month and see if it is helpful. Personally I would just… read more

I was interested in behavior balance because it has DMG, TMG, magnesium, B6, B12, and folic acid all in one. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? it's super expensive and I don't want to buy it without having some reassurance of it's validity. I also don't want to overdose my 2 year old with too many… read more

My son is on the spectrum & is lashing out the second he walks into his classroom. (Still learning about meltdowns, never sure if one is or not!) Let me start by saying that there have been a few changes since we are in the summer program. Different teacher, assistants, classroom, school & routine going into the building (me bringing him to class vs. him lining up with other kids to go in together with teacher). His school is under construction & on a positive note, they did bring all of the… read more
Did you ask if anything happened, because if he was ok and then it changed that's what I would be looking for. Not that they will admit to anything but something might have happened.
Second to that… read more
