What Can I Do To Stop My Five Year Old From Making Himself Bleed?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Over the last few months my son has developed a new scary habit of making himself bleed at all different times for no reason that I can see. I asked him about it and it had something to do with the colour red and needing to see it. But if he has a torch that is red he's scared of it. I just don't understand and I hate seeing blood over him and I can't hold him 24/7. If you have any ideas please help

Make like a "game" get him those halloween temporary tattoos or rubber cuts and bleeding arms and faces I guarantee in a week He would be bored to see that

AngelSense
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you're thinking of getting one to track your son's or daughter's movements. Don't bother. It doesn't work. You have to charge it by a window. . My sons's lost the signal while charging and never got it back. I had it out with me while I went to work. I sit by a window. No signal. I guess the cell signal is so weak there is no connection. No cell signal and no GPS. I've talked to the owner and will get another SIM card shortly. I'll keep you posted. At this point a waste of money.

Can Someone With Aspergers Learn To Be Spiritual?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My grandaughter is now an adult, highly suspect aspergers. She has had symptoms all along, my question today has to do with spiritual understandings. She has never been able to grasp these understandings. I pray for her constantly, but I am reaching out to see if there is an approach or something that might help her to learn to understand such things? I have watched her suffer so much as an adult, a result for awhile of trying to self medicate with drugs, this is improved but now has a… read more

Maybe she feels you are too forceful? In my experience it is best to respect people's personal opinions on spirituality as it is so personal and different for each person.

She sounds like she's… read more

Looking For People With Experience Using Intuniv
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 7 years old and in 2nd grade in an inclusion program. He has AD/HD as well as ASD traits and takes Adderall which helps a lot with focus. However, his oppositional and defiant behaviors are getting worse as he gets older, and he has even gotten in trouble for aggressive behavior such as hitting teachers or other students. I am interested if others has had experience with the drug Intuniv as an addition to stimulant AD/HD drugs. Reportedly it can help some kids with behavior. Thanks for… read more

I never used the CAVA program for high school, but I did use it from 4 thru 8th grade. It's a great homeschool program that'll accommodate your child's IEP. This program is statewide.

Does It Matter Who Does Cbt Therapy On A High Function Kid Or Should You Find Someone Who Has Experience Working With Autistic Children ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
A MyAutismTeam Member

Yes, it matters. Many social service/mental health providers are not equipped to do this therapy. When you get someone who has the experience, you benefit as well, as that person can help you know… read more

I Wanted To Ask Parents To Know How Well Their Autistic Child Transitioned From Elementary To Middle School?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Even though my son is currently in 2nd grade, I can't help but wonder about his future especially once he finishes Elementary. My son is no longer in special education classes but he does need help in a lot of things. His school work for now isn't an issue, it's the normal everyday things he needs help with. Like opening his food, having to supervise him getting dressed, reminding him about things he needs to do etc. I'm just concerned about how he's going to do in middle school. Like the… read more

I understand your concern. My son just started middle school this year and he is generally in the same class all day except for specials like P.E., Art, etc. You should be able to have an aid… read more
