It's so stressful right now having a 3 yr old with ASD. Getting him started with the therapy he needs. Does it get easier? I feel like we have no much on our plate getting him everything he deserves, and we have an 8 month old. We have always wanted a big family. But i have read if you have one child with ASD your more likely to have another with it. I love him to death and will do anything for both my boys. But is it normal to say we are done? Once everything sets in and we get into a… read more

Does anybody have any experience of their child being extremely uncomfortable on anything regarding emotional situations, love or affection, I can't find anything and I'm trying to understand why it upsets my son so much!

Our son usually does not react to his Epsom salt bath. He actually started to bite less with a magnesium vitamin. Tonight, during and right after finishing his bath he could not stop biting us, scratched, and needed to jump on the bed. He actually went to bed early. Could he have suddenly became sensitive?
Maybe, but we only used a cup. He takes a multi vitamin with magnesium. We usually do the bath a few times a week. Maybe we will take a break.
My son is 3 years old and receives ABA therapy for about 20 hours per week, he's been getting this therapy for almost 5 months now and he's still non verbal. Is that typical? From what I read online it uauslly doesn't take this long also he had few words and his vocab hasn't improved from 3 words it's still the same. I'm just stressed I honestly felt like ABA therapy was going to open doors for my son when we first started and now the fear of him not ever speaking is worrying me:( please mom and… read more

My youngest is 3 and really doesn't understand that his older sister (5) has autism. To him, it's natural to see a meltdown or her yelling and laughing late at night. It makes me wonder how all this is affecting him but I think he's thinking that's just his impulsive sister doing crazy stuff as she has for his whole life. It's probably fun in a way but he does copy some of her habits.
Both of my kids have autism. My oldest is 14 and my youngest is 4. Definitely an adjustment to get them to get along. Both was diagnosed early, but my youngest was able to receive services quickly
Our first IEP is today for our 4 year old daughter. They pre-shared their initial eval and based on their observations of her they estimate she is approx 2 years behind developmentally which freaks me out. I don't know if that's true globally across skills sets, since we see her in environments where she is comfortable and more engaged. With communication and social challenges present (challenges that are common in kids with ASD) am wondering if that gap between developmental and… read more
