Hi all! We're new to Hoosier Healthwise and I'm trying to find therapies for my 4 yr old ASD. Do any of you have recommendations for SLP, OT, ABA, and whatever else I'm not thinking of right now that you've used through Hoosier Healthwise? Thanks a ton :)
I guess what I'm asking is who are the providers people like and why?
My Baby is almost 3. He has SPD and delayed autism diagnosis. He has many red flags but can do eye contact and loves people. I know a couple people like that that are autistic. I do not know why delayed diagnosis however my question is... My baby doesn't watch tv really other then the wiggles but will constantly even in his sleep sing these songs. He has severe issues with like his shirt being up, my shirt being up. He doesnt like sitting on the toilet unless he is sitting on it right (not… read more
To clarify, not normal for a normal 2 yr old but OCD is more common in ASD. If the changes were sudden onset and after some infection, get it checked for PANDAS (now called PANS).

I believe the rat study referred in that article was given one human bacterial strain B fragilis (cannot get that in any probiotic though) and it reversed some symptoms of ASD in rat. That is indeed… read more

The psych doctor just prescribed us aderall XR 10 mg. We stepped up the dose to 20 mg since he thought it was "typical" but my son was so hyper he didn't sleep so I convinced my wife finally to adjust the dose down to 10 mg of the XR medication.
He is now sleeping much better with a new sleep medication clonodine and melatonin. Before he wasn't sleeping much even with clonodine on the 20 mg dose. It has been typical for him not to sleep well since a very young age. He also continues to wet the… read more
I've tried the headphones. He hates anything on his head and will take it off. No shower caps, no swim caps, no headphones. I'm surprised he even keeps his hat on during the winter. I will try… read more
I've been researching for weeks trying to figure out the best probiotic to begin my 3 year old on. I am interested in beginning a few biomedical treatments, slowly. His main issue is constipation, but as an infant he had major issues with spitting up. I notice only slight issues with reflux now. I just want suggestions for probiotics that any of you have had success with, and even enzymes (I've read a lot of great reviews on digestive enzymes). There is way to much info on the net, it is… read more
Our WF has it in the refrigerated case in the supplements aisle.
My son is 4 years old and is high fuctioning. He was diagnosed when he was 2. For the past couple of months it seems his aggression towards others and himself have gotten worse. I am getting reports everyday from school and daycare how he is hitting kids staff and himself. I have sat him down and explained to him how he has to use his words or if he has hit me or my daughter moved him quickly away from the situation. It has been hard to detect what is triggering this behavior and it is… read more

I really need some advice on how to tell my 9 year old son, his diagnosis is PDD-NOS, about Santa. He is in Grade 4 and is talking about what Santa is going to bring him this year. I asked the Psychologist about this and should he be told, she said he should but I did not get a response on how to tell him. I do not want him to be crushed (I know he will be) but the Dr. says it is better for me and husband to tell him then him find out from his peers. I could really use some advice on how to… read more

Has anyone applied for guardianship or power of attorney for your adult child? What steps did you take? I don't have many resources and I really need information and help.
We hired an attorney. He submitted the paperwork to the court and we are waiting for a guardian ad litem (?) to contact us for a meeting. We had to complete an online course on the responsibilities… read more
