Since my son aged out of school 5 years ago, we have major regression. Anger, not wanting to come downstairs to eat, etc.. Not sleeping well at nights contributes to him not wanting to get up. I am basically helpless until the state will give me funding so I can get some therapy, etc.....I am very afraid that even this won't help because it has been so long. His violent behavior is the biggest issue. That, and his SUPER sensitive hearing. I hope I will be able to find responses to this… read more

We live in Texas and have self funded insurance through my husbands employer. It does not cover anything for autism. I found a child only policy that covers ABA for the treatment of Autism. Can I purchase another policy along with the one I have for him to get ABA covered? I would like to know if anyone has gone this route and can give me some advice? Thank you
I agree with getting SSI we have it for both children. Once you have that the children are classified as disabled and you can get Medicaid which in most states pays for ABA
@A MyAutismTeam Member do you mean cranials?
Anyone have any insight into the cost of the biomed approach? Want to have all his levels tested and then go from there. We removed casein last week and are reducing gluten now. Taking it slow but I am very interested in the diet and supplement approach. My son is s almost 2 and nonverbal. Found a functional need doctor but seems very expensive. Wondering if anyone can offer any advice.
We saw more improvement from biomed than any of the conventional treatments aside from ABA (which is enormously expensive itself). There actually is starting to be a fair amount of legitimate research… read more
Does anyone know of any homeopathic doctors in the Glens Falls, NY or VT areas?

Hi all
I am writing to ask any advice that would be helpful for lessing my son's anxiety during haircuts. My son just turned 3 years old, and nothing seems to be helpful. I take him to cartoon cuts and they have TV's at every station and play cartoons, but cartoons are not a distraction. My son is terrified of haircuts. He is afraid of the sounds and is afraid to be touched by strangers. He screams to the top of his lungs and my husband and I have to hold him still until the barber is finished.… read more
Well it helps that we had been going to her for years and built up a strong loyalty. But yes we are lucky to have her!
Would like to organize a rapid prompting method workshop for kiddos of any age and nonverbal or limited verbal ability. From what I have read this method works with any child on the spectrum in getting then to communicate using a letter board. Google rapid prompting method by soma. Thanks!
I have a 7 year old daughter who is almost nonverbal. I am interested in any workshop about RPT. Please let me know if you have any information in regards to a therapist trained in RPT and also any… read more
Hi can you tell me any information about DAN?? Like does it really work or not? Is it stressful for children?? What if you child is a picky eater, how would they get him to take vitamins or supplements?? Thanks!
Definitely do your homework on any proposed treatment because while certain biomed treatments are starting to have some actual legitimate research evidence to support their effectiveness, there are… read more
Has anyone had good results with the Bumblebee videos? My MIL purchased them for my daughter. My daughter has attention issues so kind of hard to get her to sit straight through them but I'm trying.
I used them with my older daughter, they were good. We also have the flash cards. Haven't tried them yet for my younger daughter - don't think she has the understanding yet.

The Kids Who Beat Autism
By RUTH PADAWERJULY 31, 2014
At first, everything about L.'s baby boy seemed normal. He met every developmental milestone and delighted in every discovery. But at around 12 months, B. seemed to regress, and by age 2, he had fully retreated into his own world. He no longer made eye contact, no longer seemed to hear, no longer seemed to understand the random words he sometimes… read more
Just a thought but many autistic kids lose their autism diagnoses as they get older and learn more strategies to help with behaviors and to act neurotypical.
