He literally cannot keep his body from moving 90% of the time, he sleeps for two hour intervals and wakes for milk and comforting and then goes back to sleep in seconds. He's diagnosed with febrile seizure disorder, GERD, severe autism, is hyposensitive to environmental changes, is just like a child with adhd, with restless behaviour and difficulty focusing on tasks for any length of time. We use melatonin to help him get to sleep on late nights where he is overtired and well beyond his own… read more

I started max on a mixture of Melatonin and Theanine - one in morning , one in afternoon and one at 7.30. Give or take .... It has made him able to focus and sleep . He even told me that he feels the world stops so he can think...

we were using melatonin but it hit him so hard and suddenly that it made him very upset before passing falling asleep.. regardless of how calm he was. we stopped using it when he started risperidone. I'm worried about mixing anything with this risperdal so I haven't started him on anything else. he wakes regardless of environmental changes or aides. we think its more of a respiratory issue. however on a side note the risperdal is horrible.. makes him chronically seeking out food day and night no matter what is provided for him. or else he has major anxiety attacks

If you do use Theanine, keep an eye out for any slowing of motor skills, speech, learning. . .

We never know uf he will be up all night, once or twice or sleep all night. Last night he feel asleep about 9:00 abd was up at 3;45. He was screaming and freaking out till he finslly went back to slerp 6:30 abd slept till 8:30.

trazadone is loved by many. Benedryl seems to be our best resource right now. Melatonin actually disrupted the natural sleep patterns for my kids. Long term it was not a good solution.
