Does Anyone Have Any Good Resources For Information On How Change And Stress Can Effect Those With Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I need recommendations, please. A Judge just recently changed the custody arrangements for my son with autism pretty drastically. He is very attached to me. I had him 70% of the time...him going no more than 3 days without seeing me. She changed the schedule to 50-50, one week on, one week off. This is too much change for him. This is a temporary schedule change. The judge doesn't understand that "just" temporarily doesn't work for kids on the spectrum. I'm looking for any articles, information… read more

Sorry that you're going through this; I don't know the details, but you should have a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) who would do that leg-work for you.

You bet your bottom dollar change in routine is horrible for the autistic Child. Any pyshcologist that specializing in autism will agree. You can google sight after sight, read book after book to know. I am so sorry that you are going thru this.

As a single mom, you have my full sympathy.

I do not know the answer, but I'm fortunate to live near a very good resource for autism treatment. Here's the link: http://www.rchsd.org/ourcare/programsservices/a...

Rady's Children's Hospital - Autism Discovery Institute.

I'd start with their main number and see if anyone there can direct you to finding the information you need.

Good luck.

Also, if your son has a therapist; maybe they could write a letter to the court addressing the issue along with appropriate suggestions and recommendations.

Have your attorney file a motion for an emergency hearing. It should not have to wait for 4-6 months. Push your attorney hard. It's their job!
