I don't know what aspie/HFA is but I may be able to help. My ten-year-old brother has Pervausive Developmental Delay (PDD) and I can give you the names of the apps that work wonderfully for him.

If your child needs to work on writing both upper case and lower case letters, then try the app "LetterSchool." there is a free version that has few letters on it, so you can try it out and see if it works well for your child before you buy the full version.

The app "Count-A-Licious" is really good for counting from one to twenty. It has four steps which varies how your child counts and makes it fun and interesting.

"SightWords" is a great app for teaching a child his or her sight words. It automatically has the sight words of grades Preschool to Third Grade. You can even go to the settings and have only First Grade words show or you have have Preschool, Second, and Third. It is very customizable. You can even go to the setting and add your own words.

For math, try "Zoom" or "Hungry Fish". "Number Line". "Mazes" and "Trace" are just plain fun. "Pop Math" has different levels. "Hangman" is a fun game. Oh, if you want an ap for social skills....there are those too.

I always tried to avoid those electronic devices BECAUSE I wanted to encourage "human time", as we now humorously called it. But what I found was a rapid development of cognitive skills was only encouraged by playing games - and now he has something in common with the other kids at school. But I still limit "screen time" - some experts are saying 30 min after a specified amount of homework is accomplished is a good policy.

I would say go to the ap store and play with the aps. You know your child the best. Explore and have fun.
