Websites/organizations Besides Autism Speaks???
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Quick question--I've seen a lot of things here about Autism Speaks being great for info but not much else. What sites/organizations do you guys like? I Googled "autism organizations" but don't know which are good and which are crappy, lol...thanks :)

TACA definitely. You can sign up and have a mentor assigned to you who will work with you by phone or email. Also they have great support groups if you live nearby a chapter.

If you want a raw perspective on BEING Autistic, check out http://www.wrongplanet.net/ It is a forum for kids and adults on the spectrum and can be a real eye opener about THEIR perspective. It can be depressing but also uplifting. There is also a parenting area. You don't need to be a member to browse most areas.

Too each their own, I am not a fan of Autism Speaks...but I enjoy Autism Society of America, and Autism Research Institute.

I'm in Pennsylvania, so don't know if I could offer much from here. My case manager has given me information for local groups, as well as my son's speech therapist-She was very knowledgeable about support in the area.
