Has anyone come up with a strategy to help your child achieve a "diploma" in New York State now that they have eliminated the RCT's for children entering 9th grade as of 2011

My three like the Backyardigans, VeggieTales, Auto B Good, Monster Truck Adventures, and Pocoyo. My ten year old with ADHD and Asp has really taken an interest in Chopped lately. Hope that helps :)

So we didn't get much new info except what classes will look like next year. This is the first year with the 8:1:1 program going to high school so it feels like our kids are the guinea pigs. Unless they were already exempt from foreign language they have to take 1 year in high school. ( our school is only offering Spanish to these kids:( ) they have to pass the class but not the exam to get credit. They have to pass one regents exam in each subject area with a 65 to get a regents diploma or 55 to get a local diploma. Support to get through high school is going to be school based. Our school has said that as long as the kids attend specials regularly and try they will pass all specials regardless of test scores. They are giving the group of them an additional support class that one of the core subject teacher will be in charge of. This teacher will be like a resource room teacher and will help students study, relearn, make sure they have supples need, homework help etc. they will decided as a team where they need help and help them. Homework that is not completed due to frustrations or being overwhelmed will no count against them. These are something's our school is doing for this group of 8:1:1 kids that are all verbal and pretty high functioning. They vary in diagnosis to include all PDD-NOS, Aspergers, and autistic.
Hope this helps some.
