Jed e barker writes a lot of books on social skils training and I also have a list of books they can order picture books that draw out sceniros for him to follow and relate to I have bought a book on socila skills training to help my 8th grader with aspergers and learning how to relate with other people
I'm late to this question - but I was curious if you ended up trying this? I'm looking into the Boston-area office and will be starting this for my son no later than the fall. His speech-language pathologist highly recommended this program to assist him with his significant social pragmatics difficulties. Thanks!
Yes - they use this at my son's school and he also has just started a social group with this philosophy. It gives him the opportunity to "practice" social interaction so he is getting better at it. He'll quiz me on "expected" behaviors- "Mommy, if I scream in the house, is this an expected behavior?"
True, the Jed Baker book, "The autism social skills picture book" is an excellent book that should be available at your local library through an inter-library loan.
