Anyone have kids on the spec that are showing signs of dyslexia? My son is 9 and I noticed towards the end of the last school year and now this year that when reading he will transpose the letters; ti, si, fi, and so on...mostly small words. He'll also transpose numbers and will say 14 instead of 41 and write d instead of b
Yes, We have experienced many generations in my family, who have this too, However all of them are very successful people today. My opinion is that ADHD, is in close relationship to dyslexia, they are cousins.. think about it this way, A childs mind that has ADHD or OCD is attempting to absorb, this new information, and when that information gets to a certain part of the brain it sort of gets jumbled: here is an example, when you play Bingo usually they put all the numbers in a rolling container the numbers are already on the balls . when you extract them from the container you call the number off, well in the mind of someone with ADHD, that can get all mixed up or forgotten.it is very frustrating , the best way to know if this is true for your child is to track some other behaviors.. Does he or she have a hard time sitting. does he or she become easily frustrated while working on deciphering those words. Does behavior get irritated, angry or shut down ? Next if you would like we can talk about some tools that might be helpful for your son.
