My 7 Yo Son Keeps Taking His Clothes Off Everytime He Goes In The Backyard
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Should I let him run around naked and play in the grass outside ? Or should I make him put clothes on ? I’m just concerned about what the neighbors will say . We have a 10ft wall around so they won’t be able to see unless the little kids next door peek over which they did yesterday . I need opinions... he seems happy playing outside .

Moving To San Diego This Summer. Anyone Know Of Good Areas/schools?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We currently live south of Tucson, Az but will be moving to the San Diego area (closer to the border since my husband will be working on the border) and I was wondering if there were any good areas/schools for families with kids who've been diagnosed on the spectrum? I really believe that one of the major factors in Alex's improved social skills has been that he goes to a school where kids with special needs are in class with kids without special needs (at least in preschool) and was wondering… read more

Wanting Better Services And/or Better Special Education Program Then Where To Move?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

There are so many aspects and research to be done to know where a family should move to get great services and special education for their child with autism but could you help by making suggestions of how to make this determination as to where to move? OR share your family's experience where you live now? If you are satisfied, etc.

To me better services and care start with having state laws that force insurance carriers to provide for treatments. Usually it follows that there are fewer and reduced services when the business… read more

Looking For A Doctor In Northeast PA Area With Some Experience Caring For Adults With ASD.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

It is time for my daughter to move on from the care of her Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician and we can't seemed to find anyone to move on to. Anyone have a recommendation for a doctor with some experience caring for adults with ASD in the Northeast PA area? Could even travel to Southern NY if we found a good doctor.

Best Place To Retire With Adult Child?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi guys,

I'm seeking opinions on retirement locations for parents with adult children. I'll retire in another decade, but want to lay the groundwork for a smooth transition. I anticipate my adult son will live with us, so I'm looking for areas with the best services. My current location is pretty decent in terms of services, but it's too costly for retirees. All info is much appreciated!

Thanks.

Hello MAT Family! If You Have A Story You Would Like To Share About A 504 Plan To Support Your Child, I Would Love To Hear About It!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My name is JC Ellinger, and I am a writer for Autism Parenting Magazine. I am doing a piece all about 504s which, unlike IEPs, parents may be less familiar with. If you have experience or a story you would like to share with me and other families, I am open ears (and eyes)! Of course, if you are more comfortable with privately emailing me about it we could arrange that as well. Hope to hear from some of you! Happy Friday to all 🙂

I have experience with the 504 and an IEP. If we could do a private chat. My email is (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators)
