@A MyAutismTeam Member. Thanks for responding! I'm trying to finagle a move to the Midwest. May have to stay put in CA until retirement if I can't get a transfer, but I want to lay the ground work now. My 23 yr old son is very high functioning, but has some developmental delays.
I'm open to any safe, middle class community in Chicagoland. I want to replicate what we have now: job coaching, independent living supports (e.g., money management, learning and maintaining housekeeping skills, learning to prepare meals and menu planning). Opportunities for socialization are a must. Our county YMCA has a program geared for adults with disabilities. It has activities galore, and my son thrives when he's busy. Our local Regional Center provided funding for my son's services. I'm willing to pay for some things
but need funding for this stuff.
I'm also need info on housing and employment options for disabled adults. I'm striving to provide the best safety net possible in case something happens to me.
I hope this isn't overkill, but inquiring minds need to know!
Have a great day.
What type of services specifically and what part of Chicagoland, specifically?
