Does anyone in the Nashville area have recommendations for my HFA daughter entering high school in the Fall? Is there a particular high school where we should be in the district? Or any other local resources we should know about for older ASD kids? Thanks!
@A MyAutismTeam Member , the project type learning has been fantastic for our daughter. She just finished her freshman year, has all a's and b's and is having a sleepover party tonight!
I would look up and apply for grants.
Public schools aren't that great but Williamson county seems to be the best. Our 16yr old also on the mild ASD side attends Renascence High School in Franklin (about 30 minutes from Nashville) and she's been doing very well. It is a public high school for Williamson county residents. They work with kids who don't fit into the traditional public high school.
Vanderbilt is the best resourse Nashville has to offer.
Thanks MommyD23
My daughter has been admitted to Currey Ingram Academy but barring significant financial aid award, we can't afford it. I appreciate the tip on Renaissance. So the project type of learning hasn't been difficult for your child? I wonder if my daughter has strong enough communication skills to succeed there.
