I wish there was a poll option. So I was reading this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC363...
And I don't understand if it's 80% chance of having an ASD or 1% chance. And maybe I've already asked this as I'm senile already.
Did you have any inflammation while pregnant?
I am thinking chronic or disease but vaccines can also cause inflammation (yahyah it's just what they are designed to do), or viruses, or bacterias.. etc.
I have IC, hashimoto's disease and chronic pain/fatigue… read more
Studies such as these look at relative risk or odds ratio. So relative to overall population (1 in 32 boys in US according to one stat), 40% higher odds due to raised CRP would be 1 in 23 for boys. For girls, it would be much lower.
But that is just overall risk, not specific risk for any individual. There is one brain auto antibodies test under development that may be accurate for 20% of ASD cases. If mother has two specific brain autoantibodies, the risk is 70% of ASD and if have three or more of these auto antibodies, it is almost 100% chance of having baby with ASD. This test is not commercially available yet (only research) but is being commercialized. If you have autoimmune condition or another child with ASD, the risk is certainly higher.
If pregnant, in order to reduce risk, do not take any vaccine including flu vaccine if pregnant or take Tylenol. Avoid getting sick as well as that is a risk factor as well. Take vitamin D as well if levels are below 30.
Good luck.
