Are Any Other Members Dealing With Autism And Intellectual Disability?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our son is dealing with a cocktail of special needs/behavioral disorders - autism, intellectual disability, ODD, mood disorder (possible bipolar). is anyone working with a mix of these?

Oh I know this one too well. Master 15 has multiple disabilities. Autism, intellectual disability, severe language delay, sensory processing disorder. And hyper dexterity in fingers n wrists, a long with low muscle tone

Unfortunately this is more common than you would think. You have to almost treat all the conditions on there own sometimes. From a meds perspective there are different ones used for different things. Mood stabilizers are used for anxiety or bipolar and then for aggression you would use an antipsychotic. The autism end is mostly treated with therapies and the meds are used most commonly to take the edge off or to supliment.

Now this is not in all cases of course there are differences in every child and what works for one may not fit another. Some children can come off meds altogether and some need to always take them. This is of course if you are ok with meds because some people are not.

I hope that helps but if you want to know something specifically let me know.
