My sons and i will be moving to anchorage alaska in about a year. Has anyone had any experience with the special education services? I have done online research. But first hand knowledge from parents will be a lot more helpful
@A MyAutismTeam Member I live in Wasilla which is 50 miles from Anchorage. Our school district has ABA classrooms for Autistic kids. The classrooms also have an ABA specialist to help parents deal with difficult issues. The middle school teacher is the most gifted ABA teacher I have ever encountered. We definitely have better services for autistic kids over Anchorage. You need to live within the Matanuska Susitna Borough School district in order to receive services. If you have to work in Anchorage, it's not a terrible commute.
I heard that Alaska is one of the worse states for autism resources.
Thank you for the information. My boys and i are looking forward to moving
