My 4 1/2 year old son, ASD - high functioning has shown very aggressive behavior recently and it was this time last year that he had similar behavior. We have had this same type of cyclical aggressive behavior in 2013 and 2014. Seasonal pattern of aggression was different in 2015. We've not been able to identify what triggers these cycles. Routine changes sure could be an antecedent in your child's case, but so could allergies, the cold weather, changes in sleep, etc. Maybe the BT could help you to take some data regarding proximal and distal antecedents.
Winter and change are always hard. It helps to explain and discuss at great length what you're doing and how the changes will revert to normalcy. When your kid starts to freak out, remind them of previously discussed things. Try not to overdo it with decorations and guests they look like a million toys and tend to overwhelm their senses.
