Prozac
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with using prozac for anxiety with their autistic child. My son is 9 and moderately functional, verbal, but has a great deal of anxiety about going to school. Or separating from us (his parents) for activities.

Prozac works for anxiety but I would trust your doctor's opinion. It takes about six weeks to kick in, and it doesn't work for everyone so he may need to try different antidepressants.

Prozac is anti depressant... I haven't heard it's been used to anxiety... especially for kids. I used it myself but it did more damage than good... unless you are using real brand Prozac not generic crap like Fluoxetine etc that's my opinion. But I haven't heard it was used on kids. We use valerian root, natural and does the trick.
