Hi there! Biomed has been part of our ASD experience since day 1, but we started slowly due to me needing to learn about it on my own. We don't have the types of doctors in our area that do this kind of work. The first thing we did was dietary, eliminating dairy. This was huge for him. Then we moved on to removing gluten. I didn't notice any effect, so stopped. However a couple of years later, we tried again and it made a big difference. We moved on to supplementation and again more gains. One of the biggest things for us was genetic testing. He was found to have an MTHFR defect, which was a key issue. I also have the same defect. We take methylfolate (an easier for the body to use folate/folic acid). A significant percentage of people with ASD have an MTHFR issue. We have since done more genetic testing with 23andme and are currently working on addressing these issues. I'm sorry this rather broad. You are welcome to message me. We Are just looking into biomes solution. We had our 6 year old son on Risperidone and in 2 months he gained 20 lbs and grew breast tissue. He also started puberty now at 8. His anger increased and we had to start Homeschooling him. Glad to hear the GFCF diet worked better later on. I think we will try it again.
