I am trying to outweigh the option of trying to keep my son in a public school vs. home schooling. He has been in 2 different classrooms this year and still is not able to thrive socially. He is able to obtain good grades, but is having a hard time focusing. I am looking at a special education classroom or an IEP as well. My son is having a hard time functioning in a normal classroom. Any suggestions?
You need to look at wether or not your child will "actually"graduate, or get a certificate for participation. Once I figured we didn't have the ability to "test out" to graduate, living day to day and surviving and learning to the best of our abilities outweighed what "input" the school board had. When we had been on a manic high for 3 days with a total of 2 hours sleep, I didn't care where his worker went, as long as she didn't disturb our finally blissfully asleep house.xo
@A MyAutismTeam Member About the same amount of time. Six weeks.
This year I created my own and pieced together because my son was quite confused and missed some stuff in public school. I'm looking into purchasing an all in one curriculum for next year but I haven't decided yet.
I personally am not a fan of school in general for children with autism due to each of the child individual sensory issues and things that you need to know that's a lot of work not very many teachers actually do what they're supposed to do your child ends up being an outcast and if he's in general and gets made fun of I am not a fan of the school districts even for a regular child actually they don't even teach our children what we learned as kids
How long did the evaluation take. My sons' will take 45 days
