Low Sugar GF/CF Snacks
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have good ideas for GF/CF snacks lower in sugar? (budget friendly) We will continue to let our son have all natural fruit snacks at school because it is up to once daily and it is counterproductive to have him grabbing kid's food and feeling inferior watching people eat. At home he is eating too many. We can put away but want to look at something new.

Enzymes, enzymes, enzymes. They work to help digest so your gut can heal. My son takes one with each meal and adds a lactase enzyme if eating cheese or ice cream which is rare. I use NOW brand Super Enzymes with each meal and a potent lactase enzyme when needed with anything dairy. They help break down the fiber and the gluten.

I make nut butter bites with just a little honey or sweet nutella mixed with raw oats and a lot of plain almond butter and raisins or cocoa powder...it's all good and I like them too. Put them in the freezer and they're not so messay but still ready to eat.

Only some of them are dairy free - my favorite was the coconut cream and cherry pie

Not sure that they are low in sugar, actually they are probably not but it's not added sugar, it's just the natural sugar found in the main ingredient (dates), but how about Lara Bars? They do average to about $1 a bar on Amazon so not the most budget friendly. i will try to think of a few more ideas...

Have you checked ALDI's? I've seen various GF/CF products there, and they're reasonably priced.
